Monday 11th May 2015

It was a bright and sunny day. What luck !!  Jennifer had arranged a trip to Cassiobury Park in Watford.

A group of us met at Costa Coffee Harrow and caught the Met train to Watford. The park is literally two minutes walk from the station.

Cassiobury is such an exquisite park.  We had the most beautiful stroll. A soft breeze brushed across our faces as we walked. There were lots of ancient trees along the way. Even a large cut log caught my eye. It felt so special, the essence of nature for me.

We came across a Children's area with its own snack bar. It had the usual swings and things. But also a small swimming pool.   Two fountains came into view which gave the area a sense of calm and serenity. The sight of water is so healing for the eyes.

Sharing all these experiences with a group of friends was the highlight of the day. Later we went for tea and cakes at the coffee shop.

On the way back the boys had a game of football. The rest of us took a leisurely walk back to the station.

I have never been to Cassiobury Park before. I didn't know such a lovely park existed so nearby.  Nature is so perfect... Its a great gift from God...

Tuesday 3rd February 2015

' What a great evening '  Our sister group renamed ' More Than Just A Choir ' on the night marked their 5th anniversary with a Celebration Dinner at The Rest Hotel in Kenton. David and Emma did a wonderful job arranging the evening.

Everyone dressed up for the occasion. The women look quite beautiful and the men very dapper in their smart gear.

We sat down to a superb meal.  Waited on in fact, not the usual buffet as one would expect.  It was all washed down with jollity and laughter.

Debbie Dye came along to take professional pictures of the event. So at some stage we hope to see these on the ' More Than Just A Choir '  website.

But just to give you a taste of the event a couple of pictures of us enjoying the evening.

Pip, Georgie and Hedi from the band' Tir Eolas '  surprised us with some live music. They gave it their all. The audience showed their appreciation with wild applause.

Janet was truly taken aback when David announced that we had a card and gift for her.  The card and gift was to thank her for being one of the founder members of both ' The Choir '  and  ' Tog '.  Nicola made the enormous card. It was signed by members of both groups. Hansa made the rug and the small card attached was hand printed by Hamida.  Marilyn and her team made some jewellery  Nicola, Hansa and Marilyn were called on the make the presentation.

Nicola's beautifully Hand Designed and Painted Card.

The inside of the card signed by both groups.

The Hand Made Rag Rug. Painstakingly, but lovingly made by Hansa.

The Jewellery made by Marilyn & Liz.  The Hand Printed Card by Hamida.

Well done to all those who made these wonderful gifts. I am sure Janet was overwhelmed. All the colours used to create these items represent her character.

Friday 23rd January 2015 - Golf Outing

A group led by Jenny Zeffman met at the driving range at the Play Golf London venue in Watford Road, Harrow, at 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm on Friday 23rd Jan.

The group was some 12 strong. The clubs were easy to hire from the reception and buckets of golf balls were collected from the dispenser on the range. Each person had their own space, mat and Tee to practice. The meeting was to show how easy this is and it was. Each person had a unique style of swinging the club and hitting the ball. Some managed to hit right down the range but most ended left right and even the nets. Accompanied by jovial banter and laughter Laura and Leonard were champs of style and distance ;-). After about 30 minutes of practice we all went to the restaurant upstairs. It had been cold on the range and so tucked into Pizza, chips, biscuits and drinks. Jenny the group leader had generously arranged for the food to be served piping hot. We had a choice of crispy brown bread pizza too. Gradually the conversation was push started by the talkative to get the shy members involved. It came to light there were some brainy people with PhD. MSc and BSc present there. They too need to relax with this activity. The aim was to get everyone feel comfortable and not left out. Most had been there before but some were first timers. All enjoyed the golfing range the hot food and the varied conversation.

Wednesday 3rd December 2014 - Get-together at Costa in South Harrow

A bunch of us toggers had a Costa coffee get-together last week. It was the perfect opportunity to have a hot drink and a good catch-up with friends. Nicola very kindly organised it, and posted a beautiful information poster about it on our TOG website... cheers Nicola! Of course, we had to try out some of the lovely cakes and treats on offer there. It was a tough job, but I reckon we managed okay! :)  We had a proper chat, and it was a great atmosphere. Thanks to everyone there, the togger coffee get-together was a real hit.
